How AquaClic works

Open your tap – and only 6 litres will flow instead of 15 litres per minute, without any loss in comfort.

AquaClic is a flow regulator with patended pressure compensation. AquaClic limits the water flow to a constant 6 liters per minute. Between 10 and 17 liters of water flow out of an unregulated tap, depending on the water pressure. This means the more you open the tap, the more water flows out (upper curve). The lower curve shows how the AquaClic limits the water flow to a maximum of 6 liters when the tap is already opened one quarter. This quantity remains the same, whether you open the tap further or not.

What does “flow regulator with pressure compensation” mean?

Flow regulator illustration

The function of the pressure compensating flow regulator basically consists in expanding and retracting of a special O-ring against a precision profile by which the flow opening automatically changes depending on the distribution pressure (=bar).

The flow is regulated to 6 litres per minute:

Pressure What it means
0 bar No pressure (closed tap)
3 bar Normal pressure in homes (open tap)
5 bar High pressure (in comparision: a fire hydrant has 8 bar)

AquaClic is not simply an aeration nozzle or flow reduction device, but a true flow regulator.

Difference in water conservation technology

There are different water conservation technologies available, including everything from a coin with a hole placed inside the tap to the most expensive high-tech equipment. But the flow regulator with pressure compensation, as can be found in the AquaClic, offers the best comfort for an affordable price.

An unregulated tap uses between 10 and 17 litres of water per minute depending on water pressure and how far the tap is opened.

A water flow regulator without pressure compensation reduces approximately 50% of the water flow, depending on water pressure and how far the tap is opened.

A water flow regulator with pressure compensation (AquaClic) limits water flow to 6 litres per minute, regardless of water pressure or how far the tap is opened.

Much more than a flow controller

Sometimes AquaClics are compared to flow controllers, which use a different and cheaper method of water regulation than the AquaClic-flow regulator with pressure compensation. Sometimes the AquaClic's price is compared to just a regulating device without casing.

Unlike conventional tap nozzles, the AquaClic consists of a number of high quality components to help you save water, energy and CO2!
