The challenge:
Tyger Valley College opened in 2007, accommodating 262 junior primary school students and 18 staff. The school further expanded in the following two years to accommodate up to 500 students and 50 staff. Future expansion is estimated at 1,100 students and 150 staff. Since the school was situated beyond the municipal sewerage network, an on-site wastewater disposal or recycling system was required. The school did not wish to install a system for the entire development at the outset of the project but rather grow the wastewater treatment infrastructure along with the various expansion phases of the school.
The solution:
Biobox supplied and installed an Enpura® Submerged Aerated Fixed Film Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to receive and treat the wastewater generated from this facility and recycle this to irrigation of the green sport fields. The Enpura® was selected for its modular properties, allowing the school to expand the plant as their wastewater disposal increases.
Capacity:
The Biobox Enpura® STP currently installed is designed to treat up to 9,800ℓ/day with an influent COD of 1,300mg/ℓ to an acceptable standard for discharge to irrigation.
